Facebook’s Instagram and Twitter accounts hijacked
Facebook has had several of its Instagram and Twitter accounts hijacked by a group who previously took credit for hacking the social media profiles of more than a dozen NFL teams.
OurMine published the same message via @Facebook and @Messenger on Twitter, saying it had taken control of the accounts to prove how easily their security measures could be bypassed.
“Well, even Facebook is hackable but at least their security is better than Twitter,” the post said.
The group also posted its logo in a series of images on the official Facebook and Messenger Instagram accounts.
All of the tweets and pictures posted by OurMine were quickly deleted.
Facebook, which owns Instagram, has not commented on the incident but Twitter confirmed that the accounts were hacked through a “third-party platform”.
Twitter said: “As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we locked the compromised account and are working closely with our partners at Facebook to restore them.”

The social media giant suspended the @OurMine attack following the attack on a number of NFL teams last month, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Chargers and Green Bay Packers.
On that occasion, some accounts had their profile and banner photos changed or removed, while the Chicago Bears tweeted that the club had been sold to an official in Saudi Arabia.
OurMine, which has claimed to be based in Dubai, has also previously targeted the Twitter accounts of major entertainment brands including HBO, Marvel and Netflix.
Twitter founder Jack Dorsey has also fallen victim to the group.
